For its twentieth anniversary, the DC Jazz Pageant featured performances all through the Washington, D.C., space from Aug. 28–Sept. 1, culminating in a weekend jam-packed with performances stretched throughout a number of venues at The Wharf in Southwest Washington. The competition’s lineup illustrated the huge expanse of jazz and improvised music, with performances from Dianne Reeves, Ron Carter, Invoice Frisell, Terri Lyne Carrington, D.C.’s personal Billy Hart, Christie Dashiell, Allyn Johnson and extra.
For those who missed the competition, try “On the Beltway,” a DC Jazz Pageant playlist curated by 2024 artist in residence Corcoran Holt that includes lots of the performers.
