This summer time, the Mark Morris Dance Group returns to The Joyce Theater to usher in a milestone: the corporate’s forty fifth anniversary season. Program A, July 15–19, presents the world premiere of You’ve Acquired To Be Modernistic, set to seven not often heard compositions by Harlem stride piano legend James P. Johnson. Additionally on this system is Ten Ideas (1981), considered one of Morris’s earliest works—an playful and theatrical solo; The Argument (1999), an emotionally charged suite of breakups and reconciliations for 3 {couples} set to the music of Robert Schumann; and Going Away Celebration (1990), a high-spirited, honky-tonk dance impressed by country-western social gatherings.
